Cultural Complex in Cote d’Ivoire

PURPOSE:
To build a complex for the ministry in Cote d’Ivoire that would help the ministry to become more financially self-sustaining. The revenue collected from housing would help to send missionaries to areas insufficiently reached by the gospel.

PRESENT REALITIES:
Campus Crusade for Christ was started in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) in 1975. The ministry has been led by natives since 1990. The staffs have worked diligently to partner with churches in Cote d’Ivoire. Through these partnerships they have helped organize many opportunities for lay people to be trained and equipped in evangelism and discipleship.

Evangelism efforts were concentrated northward, sending staff to reach the local unreached people groups in Republic of Cote d’Ivoire. Unfortunately, for years Cote d’Ivoire was confronted with a sociopolitical crisis, which evolved into civil war. In 2010, the situation reignited and grew worse. After conflicting presidential elections, Ivorian nationals were forced to leave their own country and go into exile in Togo, Ghana, and Benin.

After returning from exile near the end of 2011, the Cote d’Ivoire staff has tried to resume ministry but have been confronted with many difficulties. On one hand, people have a great thirst for gospel, but on the other hand, poverty is quickly on the rise. The need for the Jesus is at the forefront and the national staff continues to be motivated by this need. However, their efforts have been restrained by the lack of appropriate financial support.

The ministry’s focus until the year 2020 is an effort aimed at increasing the missionary effort toward unreached people in COTE d’Ivoire, Africa and around the world.

PLAN OF ACTION:
The ministry in Cote d’Ivoire intends to build a two-story cultural complex next to the national office. The complex will consist of rooms for housing, rooms for visitors of the ministry and two large study rooms. It will house 70 at least beds.
