As a college student, I knew God had given me a passion for ministry. Early on, God had given me a heart to evangelize and make disciples. I knew it was the calling on my life. After college, I got married to Ben Pottorff, who became a youth pastor, where I served alongside him in ministry. Then in October 2015, as I was studying the life of Abraham in Genesis 12, I was impacted and challenged by God to surrender my life to the ministry of Cru. As God took the initiative for me to be a part of His plan, He was asking me to take steps of faith and walk in radical obedience, and to be used of Him to bring about His global redeeming purpose in this world. So Ben and I stepped out in faith and surrendered to wherever God would take us. And God led us to Knoxville Tennessee, where I now serve at the University of Tennessee with Bridges International, Cru’s ministry to international students.
Did you know that 7 out of 10 students that come to American universities come from the 10/40 window!? What does this mean? Most of the students come from a place where they have never heard the gospel of Jesus and the hope that is found in Him!! This statistic was bittersweet for me. Bitter at the thought that someone hasn’t had the chance to hear the gospel message and how Jesus can give hope in this life, but sweet because I get the privilege every day to share the gospel message with these students!
