Friends! I am so excited to be writing this letter!! I have been serving in my church’s recovery ministry for the past 6 years in various capacities. Re:geneneration is our 12-step recovery program for when folks are feeling stuck, heartbroken, or frankly, just feeling like life is not going according to plan. Re:gen has been instrumental in growing my walk with the Lord and helping me see and understand where I need His help to overcome my junk. Of course I am not perfect and Re:gen has not “fixed” me, but rather, through the 12-steps and the leadership and fellowship with so many amazing folks, I am quicker (hopefully!) to see when and where I need help.
In September, 2018 I prayed that the Lord would give me an opportunity to help love others well, and show me where He would have me concentrate my time, talents and efforts. Within one week I received a phone call asking if I’d be interested in helping launch Watermark’s Re:gen ministry with our ministry partner, Cru, and our friends in Poland. I told them I would need a week to process, but I knew right away this was God’s answer and leading to the prayer I had just prayed. I took the week to pray and share with community, and called back with a most enthusiastic yes!
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
Every Tuesday on my lunch break, I get the opportunity to co-lead a beautiful group of Polish women through the Re:gen curriculum. It has been so neat to see their growth! People often ask me what the big cultural differences are between us, but as we only get one hour a week, and group texting, the only thing I see is folks just like you and me who are desperate to know that the God of the universe is deeply and crazy in love with each one of them. We laugh, we cry, we talk and process all the same things we do here at home in Texas.
Since meeting them I’ve desired so much just to be able to hug them and sit face to face. That opportunity is finally becoming a reality, as my team and I are getting to travel to Poland this July! We are going to commence our groups, as they will just be finishing step 12, and then we will get to host a camp for a week, sharing and teaching them on how to lead this ministry themselves. Google Hangout has been a great way to connect, but the point of this ministry, the goal in my faith, is to rise up new disciple makers, to shepherd folks into being leaders and world changers!
“Declare His glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” 1 Chronicles 16:24
I have included you on this email to ask for your support. I would love your prayers. In addition to being terrified of flying overseas, I know full-well the enemy doesn’t want me to go and will have me distracted. I need your prayers for strength in my faith, for margin in my schedule as I prepare my heart and my bags to travel, and for my new Polish friends to remain steadfast and faithful in their healing and work.
In addition, if you would consider helping support financially, we are humbly asking for assistance in making our trip possible. We have been asked to raise $3,000 for our travel and lodging expenses. I recognize this is a big ask, so please be prayerful in your decision, and know that above all, your prayers and words of encouragement mean the absolute world to me.
It is an honor to get to go on this trip, and what a privilege to share my excitement and the Lord’s work with such wonderful friends like you! Thank you for your friendship, your love, and your faithfulness!
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.” Philippians 1:3
Grace and peace,
