African School of Storying Teams

How do you plant churches among people who cannot or do not read? Using oral Bible stories! And how are oral Bible stories produced? Through the School of Storying. 

The School of Storying is a residence workshop with local people who produce and are equipped to use The Promise, a series of Bible stories from Creation to the Return of Jesus, in their own language in just four weeks.

Consider the Bissa Barka language. In Burkina Faso, local people have been raised up to lead School of Storying projects. This team equipped Bissa Barka speakers to use The Promise so that they can reach their community! Now, Bissa Barka speakers have God’s Word in a way that resonates with their hearts–oral Bible stories. 

And, in just four weeks, the Bissa Barka School of Storying participants told oral Bible stories to 1,888 people in their community. After hearing God’s Word through stories, 50 people indicated that they decided to follow Jesus! Praise God. 

“After the School of Storying, people have the Bible within them,” said Averin Awele, Cru National Team Leader of Benin. 

Local teams in Africa are ready to take God’s Word to more and more groups of people who are waiting to hear God’s story.
