Reach Seekers with “JESUS” in Their Heart Language

#2279851

I know you are familiar with Jesus’ command to pray that God will send workers into fields “ready for harvest.” A number of today’s workers are using “JESUS” and the equipment you provide to serve in those very fields. Some are ministering in closed, difficult nations using the internet and engaging seekers online. And others are sending film teams armed with video tablets. They are privately showing unreached people “JESUS” in the language of their hearts. And still others are distributing microSD cards. It is your partnership that is helping to enable them, so someday everyone, everywhere, will have experienced the film “JESUS.”

Today, would you feel led to help equip and send these workers? We have requests for hundreds of video tablets and video projectors, for thousands of microSD cards, support for digital evangelism, including video streaming of “JESUS” and other films now in 2,218 languages. Here are some ways you can equip and go with these workers into fields ready for harvest, through your gift large or small.

Last September, I attended the Lausanne Congress for World Evangelization held in South Korea. About 5,600 evangelists and church planters were there from 220 nations.

Everywhere I went, ministry leaders and church planters expressed their thanks for Jesus Film Project®. They were very grateful for the many translations of “JESUS,” the innovative showing equipment that can go anywhere—for training and more.

Your partnership is giving glory to God.

But their thanks should really go to you! Our God is using your prayers and    gifts to resource many of these 1,800 ministry partners with “JESUS” (now in 2,218 languages) and the equipment. It’s why I want to share some amazing reports with you:

⬛ A Christian man I will call Jemal* lives in East Africa, in an area hostile to believers. Jemal knew about the film “JESUS,” that it was in his language. Thankfully, Jemal had a friend, a film team worker, who was showing “JESUS” on a video tablet you provided.

Jemal asked if he could borrow it, promising to return the video tablet the next day. The team member agreed. Jemal tucked the tablet in his bag, quite eager to watch that evening. But another man, Abera, also wanted the tablet, but for evil. When the opportunity came, he stole the tablet, intending to sell it for an easy profit.

Before going to find a buyer, Abera became curious and turned on the tablet. On the screen he saw a film ready to play called “JESUS.” And it was in his language. (Abera didn’t realize he had stolen not just a video tablet, but also the Word of God—the basis of the film “JESUS.”) He pressed the play button and was soon captured by the love of Jesus, His words and miracles, His death and resurrection. After the film finished, still alone with the tablet and Jesus, Abera the thief repented of his sins and prayed to receive Christ!

Meanwhile Jemal was desperate. The tablet his friend had entrusted to him was gone, stolen. Shocked and troubled by the loss, Jemal could not sleep all night.

The next morning, Abera came to Jemal and handed him the tablet. He confessed how he had stolen the tablet, watched “JESUS” and that God had changed his life. They both rejoiced in what God had done. Abera is now attending a house church, learning how to grow in his new faith. Praise God! Another thief is now a changed man in the kingdom of Heaven.

⬛ As you may know, Jesus Film Project doesn’t just show the film “JESUS.” Your partnership is also funding some amazing internet-based outreaches designed to interest young adults and youth—hundreds of millions who live on their phones.

It’s why digital staff are placing social media ads, often in closed nations. The ads address feelings viewers may be experiencing and invite seekers into a digital journey where they can learn about Jesus and the gospel, watch Jesus Film® video segments and converse with staff and volunteers.

A young adult, Rachid, lives in South Asia, where he works as a gas station attendant. He saw one of the ads that asked a deep question, “Afraid of the Dajjal?” That struck a chord. Like many of his culture, he did fear the Dajjal, “The Great Deceiver.”

The people in this region believe the Dajjal will be a false messianic figure yet to come—part of the eschatology** of their dominant religion. The ad, which he saw on WhatsApp®, offered a way to learn how to be saved from The Great Deceiver in the end times.

Rachid clicked on the ad and found himself privately captured in a winsome, engaging journey. He began conversing through the app with a trained online evangelist. Over several days, he discovered the truth of salvation through Scriptures from the Torah and the Gospels, about the true Messiah who had already come, Jesus. With joy, he placed his faith in Jesus, was connected with a local disciple maker and baptized.

Today, Rachid is reaching out to friends through his personal Facebook® page. He invites others to seek the truth, to find deliverance and healing. His commitment has led to four generations of believers. He is overseeing 10 discovery groups with between three and seven members in each. Groups like these also engage viewers, inviting them to watch “JESUS” in their heart language. It’s your support that makes such inspiration possible.

⬛  This last report takes us back to the Lausanne Congress for World Evangelization mentioned at the start of my letter. That’s where many workers warmly thanked Jesus Film Project for the films and equipment. I met a man there on one of the last days, a church planter working in Germany. We were having lunch. He asked what I did.

“I work with the ‘JESUS’ film.” He replied, “‘JESUS’ film! Thank you for saving my church!” I said, “Wow, I've not had that type of thanks before. Tell me more.” He did:

“Well, as a church, we were dying. My leaders and I went before the Lord, and we were praying, ‘Lord, send a revival.’ And He led us to see the community around us, and it was full of people who are refugees or immigrants from the Middle East, North Africa or Central Asia.”

That led this pastor to a strategy of hosting refugees at their church for a dinner and then showing the “JESUS” film. Somehow, they had been given a microSD memory card containing “JESUS,” which they used in their video projector.

He told me how Iranians and Iraqis were watching and believing. And not only that, those new believers were sharing the good news in their own refugee communities. He said his church had experienced revival and was transformed into a multicultural church. The film “JESUS” on a single microSD card saved his church! I thought that was amazing. Praise the Lord.

I hope all I have shared has encouraged you. As a faithful partner of Jesus Film Project, I want you to know how much God is working through you. Whether by equipping a worker with a video tablet, supporting digital evangelism to reach online seekers, or providing microSD cards, the Holy Spirit is drawing people to Christ. He is calling people through His Word, the story of the gospel. Thank you for all you have done. You have brought glory to His name.

I close with a Scripture, one that I believe reflects the hearts of those 1,800 ministry partners and 5,600 workers I met in Korea: “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever” (Daniel 12:3 NIV).

What a great calling it is to lead many to righteousness. Thank you for equipping these many workers. You are appreciated and a vital member of this worldwide effort to fulfill His Great Commission.

Thank you for shining His light into spiritual darkness. May God bless you.

*Many of these reports come from film teams and ministry partners who work in very dangerous areas. For their security, I change names and don’t disclose locations. I also edit reports for clarity. Thank you for understanding.
**Because of the teachings of this dominant religion, their concern is with death, judgment, and the final destiny of the soul of humankind.
