According to Kansas State University’s website, 24,300 college students are enrolled at KSU from all 50 states as well as 100 countries. The university is an attractive destination for engineering, technology, business, and agriculture students and is known for having an influence that reaches beyond its borders. With its location just off the I-70 corridor, K-State is a strategic hub location to launch and plant movements all over Central Kansas!
Our vision is to not only reach Kansas State University (KSU) with the gospel but for K-State to be the hub campus from which we start multiple Cru movements throughout Central and Western Kansas. By leaving a spiritual impact on the lives of Kansas students, we hope to mobilize them to be disciple-making-evangelists who lead movements as they graduate and are sent back to the mission field, whether it be the workplace or vocational ministry. Lord willing, Manhattan will become an irrigation system that waters the plains of Central and Western Kansas with the Gospel.
Need for Christian Witness in Kansas: Really?
Yes! For example, only a small fraction of the 25,000 students at KSU are being reached. There is a great need for more laborers. More importantly, there is a heavy need for evangelistically-winsome ministries on K-State’s campus. With less than 1,500 students involved in campus ministries, and with not all of the students who are involved being Christians, that leaves us with roughly 23,500 students who don’t know Jesus and aren’t being reached by campus ministries, big or small. There is still significant room for expansion at K-State, and living in Manhattan places us within traveling distance of campuses across Kansas that have an even smaller presence of Christ-centered communities. There are roughly 90,000 college students across Central and Western Kansas that our team is responsible for!
