Rich and Bonnie McGee

"The university is a clear-cut fulcrum with which to move the world....universities in which millions of youth destined to positions of leadership spend between four and ten years of the most formative period of their life. More potently than by any other means, change the university and you change the world."                                                                —Dr Charles Malik, former professor, ambassador, and UN Secretary General

For nearly four decades we have enjoyed serving Christ with Faculty Commons, Cru's professor and grad student ministry. God has called us to be missionaries to the secular university. We serve on the leadership team of Faculty Commons, recruiting ministry resources and staff, and communicating vision and updates to our staff and partners.

Christian professors are in secular universities but under represented. And the more elite the university, the less their presence. Christian professors can feel isolated and in a hostile environment. Professors are key thought and opinion leaders of society and especially of their students--future national and global leaders. What kind of impact will professors have on our children, our grandchildren, our world?

Responding to Bill Bright's visionary challenge to "Come help change the world" and "Reach the university today; reach the world tomorrow," Rich joined Cru staff upon graduation from Texas Tech University and ministered to students at LSU, University of Southern Mississippi, and other southeastern schools. Over his career with Faculty Commons he has directed the faculty ministry at SMU and held national leadership positions in global missions, publications, conferences, and fund development. He has a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Seminary.

Bonnie is editor of Frontlines, coordinator of A Common Call regional conferences for professors and grad students, and associate development director. In addition, she has a ministry called Souled Out for at-risk teens in the Dallas area. Since 1995 she has taken 50 youth each summer for a week to Kids Across America, Kamp Kanakuk's non-profit camp in Missouri for inner city teens. Then in their college years she points them to Impact, the African American ministry of Cru. One of these students joined Impact staff in 2019! Bonnie received a B.A. and M.A. from University of Southern Mississippi, where she and Rich met through involvement in Cru.

We married in 1977 and now love watching our three children, Megan, Mollie and Richmond, build their own lives and families. Since 2010 they have blessed us with nine grandchildren, two girls and seven boys.

As we present the gospel and contend for the hearts and minds of university faculty and graduate students, we are upheld by you, our ministry partners. We deeply appreciate your prayers and financial investments in us. You are helping share the gospel and mobilize Christian professors and grad students to change the world!
