The Vision Begins
Bill and Dawn have served as staff members with Cru for more than four decades, with many adventures along the way! Dawn’s first ministry assignment in the early 80’s took her to the inner city of Los Angeles to work with Spanish speakers. Bill went to the University of Rhode Island in 1976 to tell college students of God’s love. Several years later Bill traveled to universities in the U.S. and abroad, sharing Jesus via a multi-media show called Paragon Experience.
A Family is Born
The two met and married in 1986, answering the call to serve in Latin America. Both Bill and Dawn enjoyed the Spanish language and culture! God blessed their ministry and marriage, adding three children (Heidi, Bill and Toby) to their family.
The Power of Words
Bill loves to unleash the power of written words, and that led them to Orlando in the 1990s to work with Worldwide Challenge magazine, where Bill began as a writer and ended as editor.
The new millennium brought an unexpected twist as Bill and Dawn were asked to move to Germany in 2002 to work in the Western Europe headquarters of Cru, with Bill helping develop the Communications team. A totally new language and culture to learn, but also a decade that brought great joy and new opportunities to serve God! While there Bill also served on Cru's Global Communications Team. Meanwhile, Dawn got involved with Community Bible Study International as a bi-lingual class teacher, and then area director for the countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Their term of service with Agape Europe ended with the closing of their office in 2013.
Reaching the Nations
2014 began a new field of service -- Bridges International! This Cru ministry reaches out to international students studying at American universities. Bill, Dawn and Toby moved to Pennsylvania, where they helped minister to the 8,500 international students at Penn State University. These students hail from some 130 nations, leading to a perfect fit for a couple who love the tapestry of the nations of the world! Bill worked on communication projects for Bridges while Dawn enjoyed teaching international women of God’s love through the Bible.
Global Church Movements
Then in 2017 God redirected Bill yet again, to Global Church Movements, a Cru division committed to helping plant a church for every 1,000 people in the world. To reach the 5 billion nonChristians, this would mean 5 million new churches. And these are churches that multiply themselves to the fourth generation and beyond, enabling a spiritual movement to arise. As always, Bill travels and reports on what God is doing on the field. Meanwhile, Dawn holds down the home front while continuing to reach international students at Penn State.
