Trish Smith has served with CRU since 1977. For the first 28 years, she served in the campus ministry at the University of Memphis, the University of Missouri, and Vanderbilt University as well as a traveling rep to other schools in the TN/KY area. Her passions lie in discipleship and walking alongside others to lead them to faith in Christ. She is driven by this verse in Matthew 9:36-38: "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest field.'"

For the last 18 years, she has served the City Ministry of CRU in different capacities. Recently she has launched a new way of ministering to young adults by opening her home and using her gifts of hospitality, discipleship, inclusion, and connection. This ministry is called 3rd Space… not a bar, not a church, but a space where young adults can gather, feel safe and authentic, and be drawn to the love of Jesus. 3rd Space hosts events such as game nights, pups and pumpkins, songwriters nights, connection dinners, and mug and muffins which feature interactive talks, discipleship opportunities, and hearing from young entrepreneurs. Through these gatherings, she seeks ways to bring 20-30-somethings together to help them navigate some of the most challenging times of their young adult lives by having community and connection in our isolated world.

Trish lives in Sylvan Park in Nashville, TN with her sheltie, Mackenzie, her cat, Annie, and BunBun the bunny, which makes her very popular with the children in the neighborhood!
