It's been said that "Everything in our culture is downstream from the university."
This is why we work with university professors and graduate students through Faculty Commons at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. That which is discussed at the university today will affect our culture in the future. University students are seen as future leaders and influencers, both nationally and internationally. Therefore, we are committed to reaching the campus and particularly the faculty who may teach there for 20-40 years, having a potential impact on thousands of students. To reach a university with the truth of the gospel, we feel it is strategic to evangelize and disciple professors.
While professors are recognized as leaders in society, academia is considered one of the darkest places to take the gospel today. At the same time, we know Christian professors who wonder how God can use their academic expertise to promote God's kingdom on the college campus. We desire to encourage and equip such professors to produce spiritual fruit among the lives of their students and colleagues.
Having spent 32 years with Cru in Central and Eastern Europe, we hope to provide professors with academic and spiritual opportunities to serve in this part of the world. Faculty Commons holds summer projects where professors can lecture at foreign universities within their disciplines and also share the good news of Christ. As Cru at Miami has strong ties with Montenegro, we will use our connections to give professors an opportunity to serve both academically and spiritually in Eastern Europe.
