Greetings from Thailand and Iowa! Thank you for the interest that you have in our lives and ministry. Here is a brief story of our journey.
We both grew up in Iowa as farm kids of loving families. Judy became a Christian when she was a child with her parents who helped her to understand Gods plan of salvation. Mike was working at the Waterloo John Deeres Tractor Works at age 22 when two of his co- workers shared the Four Spiritual Laws with him and he prayed a prayer of faith to invite Christ to be his Savior. As we dated in the Waterloo area and started talking about marriage, we both expressed a desire to serve God with our lives together in missions overseas. Because we had both been involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and it had such a positive influence in our growth and ministry skills, we decided to join the full time staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in 1978, a year after marriage.
In 1979, we headed to the Philippines as young carefree newlyweds on a journey to follow wherever God would lead us. Little did we know that the first term of three years would turn into 43 years in Asia. 7 years in Manila, Philippines, 7 years in Bangkok, Thailand and then 29 years in Chiang Mai.
God has blessed us with four daughters who we raised in Asia and graduated from high school in Chiang Mai. They all went to college in the USA and all four girls love God and are also serving Him full-time on the staff of Campus Crusade (Cru) with their families, which includes 14 grandchildren now.
We have had a range of ministry opportunities and focus over the years. Working with college students is always a ministry we love because we believe they will be the leaders of tomorrow. When we first moved to Thailand in 1986 there were only two full time national staff. Today the TCCC ministry has over 140 full time staff. Our desire and ministry focus is to raise up the local nationals and support them in leadership, because we believe they can be a far more effective tool in reaching their own country as nationals than we are as foreigners. Our goals are to win, build, and send.
We appreciate your prayers for our ministry and that we will walk with God each day as we seek Him and His direction for our lives and future. We raise all of our own financial support and trust God to continue to be faithful in our financial needs.
