I have served on staff with Cru for more than 46 wonderful years and have experienced God's provision in a very real and personal way. After serving the Lord in the U.S.. for 14 years in Campus Ministry. I sensed God calling me to help serve overseas where I was a part of raising up National Ministries for 20 years - based out of Moscow, Russia, Almaty, Kazakhstan, traveling from France- resourcing nationals from 31 countries throughout N. Africa, Middle East and Central Asia, then establishing long term campus ministry in Rome, Italy. I returned to the States, 2012 and am now serving in Orlando, Florida.
I have been working full time with our Faculty Commons Ministry! This ministry resources and impacts our nations universities with the focus of "The Whole Campus to the Whole World". I was drawn to work with faculty as a way to be more involved in evangelism and discipleship more directly. And influencing the influencers of our country!
Professors are the instrumental ones who influence our educational system and who remain for many many years at a University. Where students, in many ways, are the tourists with 3-4 years on a campus. Empowering professors influences more students than I alone could do. One professor, I recently met, over a 3 year period has 6,000 students come through her classes and as we train her and many other professors to learn how to influence in their mission field (their students and other professors) we are able to reach and influence the campus for Christ. We are also seeing, professors along with their students, head to the international mission field, where they can easily open doors at universities around the world, in ways that we as staff and local missionaries cannot. To partner students, with professors, increases the relationships on a local U.S. campus and opens the door for the gospel to be shared through a professor abroad more boldly perhaps than they even could in the U.S. today.
