While in college, Jim and I were confronted with the truth that apart from Jesus people are lost. Knowing that He alone can give eternal life and change lives we made the decision to invest our lives introducing young people all over the world to Christ.
For 45 years we have served on staff with Cru, helping to share the gospel with thousands of students and helping to initiate ministries on college campuses in the United States, the former Soviet Union, Japan, and in several countries throughout North Africa and the Middle East. Currently I help in developing our missionary leaders and in creating a missionary culture on the college campuses in the Northeast Region of the United States.
Most students today still don't attend a college where they hear about the God Who loves them. They don't know what it means to have their sins forgiven or experience their burdens lifted. They wake up each day and pursue dreams that won't fulfill. Unless things change, they won't meet anyone on their campus who truly follows Jesus, and they won't hear his life changing gospel of love and forgiveness. After 45 years, we still want to be a part of bringing about that change.
For the past 7 years Jim has been engaged in a battle with a very rare stage 4 cancer in his lungs. It is incurable at this time, but Jim is participating in several experimental drug studies that are seeking to discover a cure. Though disabled by this terrible disease, Jim continues to share the gospel with countless numbers of other patients and the medical staff that are helping him. Please pray for us as we continue to trust the Lord for each new day in this ongoing battle.
Our two kids, Becky and Mike, are now grown, but they have always shared in our exciting adventure. They have grown up surrounded by godly students seeking to live out their faith and have reaped the dividends of that experience in their own growing relationships with the Lord.
Since joining the staff of Cru, Jim and I have seen the Lord provide all of our needs through the consistent prayer and financial support of a team of ministry partners. Because Cru has no central funds for paying salaries, this team has provided the only income for my ministry.
Due to the expanding needs of my ministry, I am looking for additional partners to join with me in continuing to reach lost students with the gospel and build them into Christ-centered leaders who will help us reach the world for Christ.
Because we believe that God continues to call me to this ministry, we are confident that He will continue to provide for us just as He has for the past 45 years. Currently, we are praying that the Lord will raise up a number of families and individuals who will give $100 each month, (or $1200 each year), to support my ministry. These new partners help me continue to serve effectively.
Students of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Perhaps the Lord would move in your heart to invest in my ministry to these future leaders.
