Al and Susan Goff give leadership to Unto®, the humanitarian ministry of Cru®. Unto exists to express the kindness of Jesus through humanitarian assistance for people living in the toughest places on Earth by relieving suffering, restoring dignity, and revealing the hope found only in Jesus Christ. Unto works globally through three primary programs: clean water, food and critical aid. Additionally, Unto has a US disaster response component.
Susan and Al served together in Europe with Cru for 12 years before moving to Texas to lead Unto. They worked out of Geneva, Switzerland to help start Cru's first humanitarian efforts in more than forty countries.
Al has served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Unto since 2013. Before taking his role with Unto, he served as Cru's Director of Humanitarian Strategies and Crisis Management in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia in Paris, France. Al has an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from the University of Geneva, U.N. Staff College and the Center for Humanitarian Cooperation at Fordham University. Prior to his work in Cru, Al served with the U.S. Navy and is a veteran of Desert Shield/Storm.
Susan has been a staff member with Cru for 40 years. Sixteen of those years were with the Cru’s campus ministry where she gave leadership to the Cru staff team at East Carolina University and the University of South Carolina. She has served internationally in projects in Kenya, the former East Germany, Hungary, and South Africa before serving long-term in Europe. Susan has a passion for and expertise in evangelism and discipleship. She is a sought-after speaker for conferences.
Susan and Al share a passion for people who never have had an opportunity to hear about Jesus, especially those located in forgotten, hidden and difficult places that face distress because of war, famine, water deprivation, natural disaster, and political/social/religious instability.
Please pray for their leadership of Unto as they give leadership to 100+ staff members who oversee humanitarian projects in more than 50 difficult countries and the United States.
The Goffs have two sons, Matthew and Joshua. Matthew works in Plano, TX. Joshua serves as a U.S. Marine in Okinawa.
