Serving with the JOSH MCDOWELL MINISTRY
As an agnostic college student, Josh McDowell thought Christianity was a joke. Challenged by fellow students to disprove Christianity and the Resurrection, he left college to research ancient manuscripts in libraries in Europe and the Middle East.
Eventually he found himself in a museum in London, England pouring through historical documents and artifacts when the breakthrough moment hit. Leaning back in his chair, he incredulously exclaimed, "It's true. It's true!"
This marks the 33rd year Dave has been on on staff with Cru and the Josh McDowell Ministry -- 27 for Diane--helping to proclaim the TRUTH of the Christian faith to the world. We have two children, Zach and Samantha who represent our passion for ministry.
God has given us the opportunity to maximize our ministry through our resources. Our focus is on the more than 150 resources our ministry has produced over the past 60 years, including classics such as Evidence That Demands a Verdict and More Than a Carpenter (with more than 30 million books distributed in over 120 languages).
Dave serves as the Director of U.S. Publishing and Resource Distribution. He has the privilege of helping get new content published and distributed in the U.S, most recently the book, How to Know God Exists. Each resource is centered on providing breakthrough moments of clarity and conviction enabling believers everywhere to share, support and live out their faith. And to provide those seeking truth to encounter the hope and love found in Jesus Christ.
Time and time again we are privileged to hear stories of how God has used Josh's materials to make an eternal difference:
"I'm a piano teacher. I have an 81-year-old student who is a Nazi Germany survivor. She has asked me many questions about God, whom she thought was cold and distant. Two weeks ago I gave her a copy of More Than a Carpenter and asked her to read it as it may answer many of her questions. Today when I arrived at her house for her lesson, I was greeted by a big smile on her face. She told me she had become a Christian after praying Josh's prayer on the last page. She has asked me to teach her about the Bible and Jesus!"
We are so thankful that God allows us to join him in this work. And we are so thankful for the generosity of so many people who have joined with us to make it possible for people around the world to discover, "It's true!"
