We have been on staff with CRU since 1984, including 24 years at Washington State University.  Since 2016 we have been serving with Athletes In Action in the San Gabriel Valley, where we are launching and leading ministries at universities such as Azusa Pacific University, the University of LaVerne, and the Claremont colleges.  We are trusting God to use us to help raise up evangelistic movements in the athletic departments of these schools so that one day every lost person will hear the gospel, every believer will spiritually multiply on campus, and everyone leaving their campus will do so with a passion to walk with Christ and help fulfill His Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) for a lifetime.   strategies to help accomplish this vision include:

AIA TEAM TALKS- An eight minute meeting with a team where I share my own story of meeting Christ while an injured football freshman at Michigan State, briefly offer AIA as a spiritual resource for them, and give them an opportunity to respond on cards so we can connect with those who are willing to talk more.

EVANGELISTIC APPOINTMENTS - thirty minute informal conversations where we ask a lot of questions, listen carefully to answers, and share the gospel using the Knowing God Personally booklet or Romans 6:23 as God opens doors.

DISCIPLESHIP APPOINTMENTS - One on one and small group meetings where we disciple athletes and coaches in basic spiritual growth concepts, study Ephesians, take prayer walks, or train them with skills like "how to have a quiet time, how to share the gospel, how to follow up a new believer, and how to equip others to spiritually multiply. "

TEAM CHAPELS - A twenty minute devotional led by AIA staff, athletes, and/or coaches, designed to help a team understand how to worship God through their sport and spiritually prepare for competition.

AIA ULTIMATE TRAINING CAMP - A weeklong experience where athletes learn how to worship and glorify God through sport. 150 athletes from across the country receive biblical input on five AIA principles, have the opportunity to practice the principles in a daily "competition lab" setting, and finally apply them all through participation in "The Special," an overnight physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual team challenge.

AIA SUMMER TOURS - Athletes from across the US travel around the world to compete and share Christ through their sport, while being discipled so they can better serve and lead back on their campus and for a lifetime.
