Our mission is to help win students to Christ, build them in their faith and send them to be spiritual leaders in their communities, churches, and families.
Wendy is a national communications director for the Campus Ministry. Her history with Cru goes way back: she committed her life to Christ when a staff woman spoke to her Cornell University basketball team and asked, "What do you think would happen if you walked across the street from your dorm and got hit by a car and died?" That led Wendy to understand God's acceptance and forgiveness based upon His love, rather than her own best efforts. She's in her 40th year of using her communications skills to serve Cru staff and ministries worldwide.
The son of Cuban immigrants, Luis (Louis) has been a student, musician, entertainer, and businessman. Together, we served in the inner city of Orlando, then on the national operations team for Cru's ministry to Latino students, Destino. In 2015, Luis sensed God leading him to return to the business world. Luis's passion to share his journey of recovery complements our commitment to build young leaders.
Our marriage is a picture of cultures blending to create something new. Each of us has our own family experiences--just as Latinos and Anglos have shared their traditions for centuries. With respect, curiosity, an attitude of learning, and a sense of humor, we model what our blended ministry, as well as the U.S., is becoming.
