General Questions

What is Cru’s tax ID number?

Our tax ID number is 95-6006173.

What is my Partner ID number?

Your Partner ID number is the 9-digit number that can be found above your name on your receipt or statement from Cru. It does not include letters, spaces, or symbols. If you have registered your account for giving on this site, you can also find your Partner ID number in the upper left corner of the Your Giving page.

If you are unable to locate your Partner ID number, we are also happy to provide it for you. Please email us with your full name, address, and the name of the staff or ministry you support at egift@cru.org.

How do I register my online account?

To register your online account, go to the Your Giving page. Sign in with your Cru username or create a new one. You will be prompted to enter the contact information, and then you will need to verify your identity by correctly answering security questions. Once your account has been activated you can update contact information, access your giving history, update your bank account or credit card, and edit your recurring gifts.

How do I update my contact information?

To update your contact information, you must first register your web account. Once your account has been activated, you can update contact information, access your giving history, update your bank account or credit card, and edit your recurring gifts.

Once you have successfully signed into your account, update your contact information by simply navigating to your Profile.

How do I donate anonymously?

You are able to make an anonymous gift to a staff member or ministry and still receive a tax-deductible receipt for your gift. When making a gift online, add a comment in the "Special Handling Instructions" section to indicate that the donation should be processed anonymously. Remember to keep the “Comments for Staff” section blank as this sends an immediate notification to the staff member.

How can I get a receipt for my last gift, including my year-to-date total?

You will receive a tax-deductible receipt for each one-time contribution you make. Additionally, you will receive mid-year, 11 month, and year-end statements. Recurring gifts only receive mid-year and year-end statements.

To print a receipt online, sign into your web account. From the right-hand column, choose “Your Receipts.” Choose the gift for which you need a receipt, and you can download or print a PDF version. The middle portion of each receipt contains a year-to-date total.

How can I set up a recurring eGift?

You can make a one-time credit card gift or set up a recurring gift by mailing Cru directly.

To do this, please follow the required steps:

  • Use this commitment card and select the “Credit Card” box;
  • Fill in your contact and payment information and provide your signature
  • Fill in the upper right-hand box with the information for the person or ministry that you would like to support, including their name and account number, amount, and frequency of the gift.
  • Return the completed commitment card to:

Electronic Funds Transfer

To do this, please follow these required steps:

  • Use this commitment card and select the “Bank Transfer” box;
  • Fill in your contact information and provide your signature;
  • Fill in the upper right-hand box with the information for the person or ministry that you would like to support, including their name and account number, amount, and frequency of the gift;
  • Return the completed commitment card with a check for your first month’s gift to:

OR:

  • Tear off the perforated portion on the bottom of your Cru donation receipt
  • Check the box for automatic withdrawal, fill in the amount, and include your preferred withdrawal date (5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, or 25th)
  • Provide your signature for authorization
  • Return the completed portion with a voided check to the same address above.

Setting up a Gift over the Phone or Online

You can make a one-time gift or set up a recurring credit or debit card gift by calling Cru directly at 1-888-278-7233 option 1, option 1.

We are PCI compliant and strive to keep our ministry partner’s information secure. Therefore, we do not recommend that ministry partners email their credit card information.

Electronic Funds Transfer

You can make a one-time EFT gift by calling Cru directly at 1-888-278-7233 option 1, option 1.

Please remember that we are required by ACH law to have a signature in order to set up recurring bank transfer gifts. We accept electronic signatures allowing for new recurring EFT gifts to be initiated over the phone once the signature has been provided.

If you prefer, you can give by credit card or EFT online by visiting our secure online donations page which allows you to make one-time gifts, and even set up an automatic recurring gift in a matter of minutes. You can search for the staff member or ministry that you would like to support by name or account number.

How can I change my recurring gift?

The most convenient way to update your recurring eGift is to sign into your web account and choose Edit Recurring Gifts from the Your Giving page. Once you sign in, you will be able to change the amount, payment method, draw date, recipient, or cancel a gift.

In order to take bank information over the phone we must have a signature authorization on file. If you choose the option to provide an eSignature we are able to change the recurring EFT over the phone.

You can also send us your check with a commitment card. In order to set up a recurring EFT gift by mail, we must have a signature authorizing the withdrawal from your bank. Please mail them to:

Please note that Cru must receive any updated information 3-5 days before the draw date of your monthly gift to ensure that the change is effective immediately.

When will my recurring gift be withdrawn from my account?

You can choose to have your recurring gift withdrawn from your account on any day from the 1st to the 28th of the month.  To do so, first select the option for monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring gifts.  You will then have the opportunity to select the day of the month.

Every business day, Cru processes all the one-time gifts that were submitted online the previous day. For EFTs, Cru sends this information to the bank, and on the following business day, the gift will be withdrawn from your bank account.

Please note that Cru must receive any updated information three to five days before the draw date of your gift to ensure that the change is effective immediately.

What happens to my recurring gift when a missionary leaves Cru?

Your recurring gift will not automatically stop when a missionary that you are supporting leaves Cru. After a staff member notifies you that they are leaving, their account remains active for three months to allow for their transition off staff. If the gift is still running when the staff’s account is inactivated, the gift will be redirected to a General Staff Fund. You will be notified with a letter when this happens so that you may either suspend or redirect your gifts.

Changes to your automatic withdrawal can only be made at your request. If you need to make any changes to your giving at any time, you can sign into your web account, or call our team at 1-888-278-7233 opt. 1, opt. 1, or email us at egift@cru.org.

What address should I use to mail a check?

  • Your full name
  • Your address
  • Phone numbers (daytime and home phone)
  • Your donor identification number (if known)
  • The name and account number of the staff member, ministry, or project you are supporting

How can I set up a bill pay gift?

You will need to contact your banking institution to initiate a bill pay gift. Typically, the only information you will need is Cru’s mailing address which is:

If you can include a note on a memo or reference line, please include your partner number and the account number of the missionary, ministry, or project you are supporting.

Matching Gifts

Does Cru accept matching gifts?

Matching gift programs allow companies to match donations that their employees make to Cru staff members or ministries. This includes gifts made through check, credit card, EFT, non-cash, bill pay, and stock.

Please contact your Human Resources department to determine if your employer offers an employee matching gift program and if Cru meets the qualifications.

Non-Cash Donations

How do I send stock or mutual funds to Cru?

Most stock and mutual fund gifts can be sent to Cru’s account at Charles Schwab. After the shares are transferred, a Stock Administrator will sell the shares. A check is issued for the value of the stock or mutual fund. Once the check is received, it is deposited and credited according to your intentions.

To send stock or mutual funds, please use our Stock Form. Please send this form to Cru so that we can ensure that your gift is processed and receipted correctly.

How do I send commodities to Cru?

If you produce commodities, such as grain or livestock, you can give by selling these products in Cru’s name. Your elevator then sends Cru a check from the sale. There are times when a Stock and Non-Cash Gifts Administrator needs to contact the elevator in order to sell the commodity. If that is the case, please call our team at 1-888-278-7233 opt. 1, opt. 2 or email us at stock@cru.org.

If you need a form to process this gift, please use our Commodities Form. After giving it to your elevator, please send this form to Cru so that we can ensure that your gift is processed and receipted correctly.

Gift of Bitcoin and Other Virtual Currencies

Cru accepts tax-deductible gifts of various forms of virtual (digital) currency such as Bitcoin. Per government requirements, these gifts are recognized as real property and are received and receipted similar to stock and other securities. Virtual currency gifts of $5,000 or more annually require a qualified appraisal.
