Hello Friend!

If you are reading my Cru page, it’s because the letter I sent you inspired you to learn more! Thank you!

If you know me at all - you know that over 6 years ago, I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior and started following Him daily. Before Christ I was enslaved with worldly sin such as fear, worry, ego, shame and pride. Now my life has an unworldly peace in all things even when up against trials and tribulations and this comes directly from my personal relationship with Christ.

Being chosen to go on this short-term disciple trip is an answer to my prayers. I will be able to combine 2 of my passions; Business Strategy and Faith to impact how others to live and view life in a more positive light.

 How can Christ influence Albania?

Albania was under Muslim influence for hundreds of years. It came under Atheistic Communism rule in 1944 and all mosques and churches were closed in 1967 and religious observances prohibited; in November 1990, Albania began allowing private religious practice. With that came religious freedom and an openness to hearing the true Gospel! Most Albanians are Muslim, others are Atheist or Agnostic, Orthodox or Catholic, and Secular (much like America). But because Albanians love Americans and are very open, they are generally very receptive to hearing the Gospel, and so the ministry opportunity is incredible.

So, what’s the background of Albania?

Albania declared its independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1912, but conquered by Italy in 1939 and occupied by Germany in 1943. Communist partisans tool over the country in 1944. Albania allied itself first with the USSR (Until 1960). And then with China (to 1978). In the early 1990’s, Albania ended 46 years of isolated communist rule and established a multiparty democracy. The transition has proven to be challenging as successive governments have tried to deal with high employment, widespread corruption, dilapidated infrastructure, powerful organized crime networks, and combative political opponents.

Albania has made progress in its democratic development since it first held multiparty elections in 1991, but deficiencies remain. Most of Albania’s post-communist elections were marred by claims of electoral fraud; however, international observers judged elections to be largely free and fair since the restoration of political stability following the collapse of pyramid schemes in 1997. Albania joined NATO in April of 2009 and in June 2014 became an EU candidate. Albania in April 2017 received a European Commission recommendation to open EU accession negotiations following a passage of historic EU-mandated justice reforms in 2016. Although Albania’s economy continues to grow, it has slowed, and the country is still one of the poorest in Europe. A large informal economy and a weak energy and transportation infrastructure remain obstacles.

Disparagement, poverty and lack of ability to raise your stature in life, feeling valued in your profession or just simply caring for yourself and your family is a chore enough without a corrupt government getting in your way. Providing wisdom and professional business tools in partnership with offering simple HOPE thru Christ is our main purpose for returning year after year to Albania.

Why do I ask for sponsors instead of just writing a check?

Raising support to go on a mission is scripturally sound. The Apostle Paul was sent out to preach the word with just the clothes on his back. Bring the light of Christ onto darkness and that will be reward enough for the workers. Cru Albania is supporting our efforts with shelter and community; but airfare, food and necessities still need to be provided. I am asking you to help support me raising the $3000.00 needed by mid-May.

Please prayerfully consider supporting me especially if you have never given to a mission before as your blessings will be abundantly returned. The donations are tax deductible and can lighten your day thru the blessing of giving to others.

~I do not say this because I want a gift from you. What I want is for you to receive a well-earned reward because of your kindness. Philippians 4:17
