Born in Cambridge, New Zealand, Ross got a strong sense of God's call for missions while working as the youngest expatriate in Papua New Guinea. God speaks to some in a quiet voice, yet this was not the case for Ross. In the shortest time possible Ross contracted malaria. God spoke loud and clear during this fight for health and he is thankful for that to this day.

It was not long after Ross's return to health that he served as a missionary in Greece, Albania and Bulgaria with Operation Mobilisation. There he had his first contact with CCC and the concept of sports ministry. He also discovered Roula his wife who was at that time working in the student ministry - Campus Crusade did have some "beautiful" things going for it. Within a year Ross and Roula were married and founded the Greek ministry of Athletes in Action.

Ross and Roula led Athletes in Action Europe and was the former Global VP for strategy. In 2004 Greece hosted the biggest international AIA major event where 540 people indicated decisions for Christ. Ross was also one of 9 AIA chaplains serving at the best athletes in the world at the Olympics.

In 2023 Ross and Roula moved back to New Zealand. They help meet the needs of ministry and mission globally. They partner with a number of sports ministries in order to help see “That every person involved in sport around the world has access to a Christian sports chaplain. And that these chaplains share the love of Christ.”
