Steve and Linda Morgan

#0111303

Since coming to a saving faith in Jesus in 1972, I began to grow in faith as a student @ Ohio State University, where I met my future wife, Linda. We became acutely aware of God's clear calling on our lives to full-time missions. The Great Commission, to "go and make disciples of all the nations..." has been the dominating theme of our lives ever since.  Linda and I have been serving on the staff of Cru, specifically with Athletes in Action, for 43 years and counting. We have 3 children: Sarah(42), Daniel(38) and Josh(31), and two grandchildren.

Our time on staff includes 11 years ('78-'89) @ Indiana University-Bloomington, where I pioneered the AIA campus field ministry; also serving as Midwest regional Coordinator/Trainer for our new staff.
For the past 32 years, Linda and I have been working in the Kansas City metro area, as part of our Pro (athlete) Ministry. Initially, I focused on designing and implementing special outreach projects, integrating KC Royals, Chiefs, and Wizards players in school assemblies. Players spoke out against drug/alcohol abuse while also espousing their personal hope, faith and purpose in life through Jesus Christ. Well over 280,000 students and families were exposed to the gospel, just through the influence of these athletes during the '90's.

My primary role continues to be sharing the gospel and discipling pro athletes to know and love the Lord with all their heart AND to make Jesus Christ known through their unique and powerful platform in sport. Over the past 27 years, my heartbeat has been concentrated on "the beautiful game" of soccer; without equal, having the most strategic and global impact of any sport in the world. In 1996, I helped pioneer our MLS (Major League Soccer) pro ministry with the Kansas City Wizards (now called Sporting KC). Since its inception, God has expanded our influence through weekly chapels and bible studies with volunteers and full-time staff in all 27 current MLS cities. In addition, I serve as our USMNT chaplain(since '98 World Cup to the present), developing and maintaining communication among our top USA players to mentor and encourage them in their walk with Christ and to "seize the moment" (Colossians 4:3-5) to proclaim His name. Beyond our borders, our reach has extended to Cameroon (2017-present) and to Panama (2019-present), where I'm focused on teaching and training indigenous volunteers to serve as chaplains to the elite sport teams in their country. These efforts include ongoing ministry training, bible study and prayer via online media to more than 115 staff and volunteers in 4 countries on a weekly basis.

God is at work transforming the hearts of athletes to, in turn, have a multiplied influence for the cause of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through our availability to Him, AND through your partnership in prayer and in giving, this ministry is bearing fruit. We're asking you to pray NOW and see how the Lord will lead you to invest your time, prayers, and resources to support us in this ministry. We'll send our prayer letter to you every 6-8 weeks, giving a brief report of what's happening in our lives. Thank you to those who've invested in us all these years and to the many who will consider joining us for many years to come!

Grateful for His amazing grace,
Steve and Linda
