Ben & Janet Burns have served with Cru for 40 years. They started in ministry working with college students at the University of Washington where they met and fell in love. For the past 23  years they have been helping couples and parents build godly families for the Kingdom. They live in Wilsonville, Oregon, and have three adult kids: Lauren (DC), Sydney (LA) and Jack (NYC). 

WHAT DO WE DO?

WE TEACH

We teach God’s design for marriage and the family. Each year we speak to over 1,300 couples at the Weekend to Remember (WTR) marriage conference, sponsored by FamilyLife (a Cru ministry). Couples leave the WTR with a deeper understanding of God, their marriage and each other. We present the gospel at each WTR and see 50-100 spouses make a decision for Christ each year. Aside from speaking at the WTR, we teach on marriage and the family at local churches, Family Camps and YouTube. 

WE TRAIN

We lead young marrieds in a small group setting to discuss our biblical responsibilities in marriage. It’s also a great time be honest with each other about the challenges we face as we try to live out our faith in our marriages. We also train engaged couples about God’s purpose for marriage and how to better understand each through good communication as they approach their wedding and beyond. 

WE ENCOURAGE

We coach people in their specific roles in the family. There are times when being a spouse and a parent are really hard. We seek to encourage others in their walks with Christ and living out their faith in their family.
