Thank you for supporting my ministry. I am now in my 38th year on staff and starting my 12th year back in Kansas City. It is hard to believe it has been that long. My how time flies!! People I thought were so much older than me when I first came on staff, all of a sudden I am catching up with them. I hit the Big 60 a year ago.  How does that work? lol
Since 1997 when I started going to Spain, God has been gently moving me back into my art. I studied art as an undergrad and never pursued it much after I came on staff. While in Spain and seeking to engage Spaniards in spiritual dialogue we began to see that discussing the arts and the outdoors enabled them to engage God in a new and fresh way. My heart was soaring and enjoying greatly ministry. Though it was difficult to see anyone actually trust Christ I saw many with a changed view of who God is and a willingness to at least think about it. My last 1 1/2 yrs. in Spain while in Barcelona, I worked in an art studio we had there that worked in conjunction with the campus ministry. There I was given time to engage my own art and to think about the arts and their effect on culture.

January 2005 I moved to NYC to Co-Direct our creative student ministry called transFORM. Since then it has blossomed into much more than ministry with college students but God is doing some great things in the hearts of Christians when it comes to the arts. Our ministry is seeing the need for creativity in the life of our staff and in the way we minister. As I work with young emerging artists I also have the opportunity to interact and work with professionals in the art world. We just celebrated our 10 year mark with our artist in residence program.  We partner with a non-profit out of Denver, Co. called Christos Collective.  It is run by a dear friend and mentor of mine.   We have affiliate, part-time, and full-time staff in NYC, Dallas, Kansas City, San Francisco area,  Joshua Tree, Ca., Tuscan, Denver, Co. and Orlando, Fl. We have grown to about 24 across the country.  We are a virtual team seeking to engage emerging artists to established artists with the kingdom.  Our residency, our  staff and our summer programs our based around four pillars:  the development of one's art, faith, civic mindedness/blessing the city they live in, and leadership.  We want to see artists creating excellent art and impacting culture while living missionally in their art world.

Directing Transform has been one of the most enjoyable things I have done on staff with Cru and I count it such a privilege to do this.  In each city where we have staff we are establishing ministry with artists of all ages from High School through adulthood, and it is exciting to see what God is doing.  We continue to expand. The picture shows you almost all of our team.  We are 25 strong now and located in 7 cities in 6 states. You can check out our website Transformcreative.org

I believe the arts our vital to being human and to being fully who God has made us to be.  Every person has a creative side and we seek to engage that as engage people with our art, with talking about art both in the church and outside the church.  We seek to see the church once again be the patrons of the arts and we seek to see the Art world believe the faith world creates excellent art.  We are seeking to work in both worlds.

Won't you consider joining with me to reach into a part of our world that is challenging to reach into and has for many years rejected the Christian faith.  Join me as we seek to impact not only individual lives but culture at large both Christian and non-Christian.
