I remember what it feels like to be lost, and I don’t just mean life before GPS (although it is a wonder that I got around without it)! I remember the feelings of emptiness that came from chasing what I thought would bring fulfillment in college: academic success, popularity, friends, parties, dating, drinking.
By the time I reached my senior year, I realized that the more I chased those things, the less satisfied I felt. Then God opened my eyes, and through the ministry of Cru (then Campus Crusade for Christ), it became clear to me that the gospel was not just a reading on Sunday mornings. It was an invitation to life. Abundant life!
Accepting Jesus' invitation changed everything. Not only did I find the fulfillment I had been seeking, but I set out on an adventure with Him that I never could have imagined. I have lived overseas, bringing the Good News of Christ to university students in Paris, served on a team of leaders over all of Cru’s campus ministries in North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia, traveled widely to train and mentor Cru staff, and served in various leadership roles in Cru's U.S. campus ministry.
Do you know what keeps me here after thirty-plus years? It’s that so many young people still experience the lostness I remember. There is a spiritual battle raging for the hearts and minds of students and faculty. I do what I do so that every one of them might have the opportunity to say "Yes" to Jesus' invitation to abundant life.
My role as chief of staff undergirds and supports the whole mission of Cru’s campus ministry -- winning students and faculty to Christ, building them in their faith, and sending them to win, build, and send still others. Partnership makes it possible.
My ministry has always depended entirely on God providing through the generous giving of partners like you, who desire to see the campuses of the world transformed by Jesus.
