This year, Ethan (now 20), who is on the autism spectrum, continued a transformative journey with counseling. With the help of a skilled Christian therapist, Ethan is learning new “templates” for interacting with the adult world post high school. These templates are practical tools that help him understand how to navigate daily life, think flexibly, advocate for himself, build healthy relationships, and function more independently. This progress has been very encouraging.But as you might imagine, the therapy isn’t just helping Ethan. As a family, we’ve all been learning new “templates” through individual sessions, too—ways to communicate, support, listen and encourage that foster healthier, more loving relationships. We’re learning, growing, and thriving together in ways we didn’t think possible.
