Bret and Meredith Nathaniel have been serving as Local Leaders for Athletes in Action in the Bluegrass Region for almost 30 years. Athletes in Action (AIA) is a movement of athletic influencers who initiate with (win), invest in (build), and influence (send) the campus, the community, and the world by their words and actions so that every athlete on every team knows someone who follows Jesus. Some of the reasons we love investing in university athletic communities are that they are typically comprised of the most ethnically, socio-economically, geographically, philosophically, and academically diverse group of students on campus AND many of the men and women we work with are disciplined, respected, leaders among their fellow college students. Ministry to the athletes, coaches, and administration at Kentucky State University is where Bret spends the bulk of his time in campus ministry. Our vision is to establish effective ministries which serve the athletic communities at the five other colleges and universities in the Lexington area. Since COVID-19, Meredith has been leading and directing the SportLinc Ministry of Athletes in Action.  In this role, she leads a team of 8 to reach every campus in the United States that does not have full-time staff on their campus.  Currently, SportLinc is on 28 campuses from California to Delaware. She disciples women from Florida State, Notre Dame, Concordia (NE), and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee as they lead their Bible Studies and small group meetings.  In this new role, she also gives leadership to the entire campus ministry with Athletes in Action while serving on the National Campus Team and Campus Executive Team.  In addition to this, she recently assumed a co-director role of Missional Expansion to help every athlete on EVERY campus have the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus.
