OUR STORY
We were married in 1991, lived in Sacramento, California and were active in the leadership of our church. In 1998 our family had grown to three boys and Cheryl had fine tuned her role as mom but had little interest in putting time or effort into her wife role. The same was true for Jim's roles as dad and husband. During this same time, Jim had been working in the field of Parks and Recreation for over 15 years and was beginning to feel his ladder of success was leaning against the wrong wall. As a couple we had a heart for ministry and wanted to make a real difference in peoples lives. We began to pray about Gods direction for our lives.

In November of 1999, we attended our first FamilyLife Marriage Conference in Sacramento. It turned out truly to be a Weekend To Remember. It was the turning point that brought back the intimacy and gave us a fresh perspective on our roles as husband and wife. We also saw how God was using FamilyLife to encourage, heal and restore marriages throughout the world. We attended the career opportunity session that weekend to hear about serving full time at FamilyLife. Sensing Gods tug at our hearts but struggling with leaving family and friends we committed to pray about the decision for a year.

In the following year our sensitivity to marital struggles among those we knew continued to grow. Our desire to serve Him full time anywhere and at any cost confirmed our need to proceed with the application process. At Weekend to Remember Conference in 2000, we began the process that brought us to full time work at FamilyLife as of December 2003.

At FamilyLife, Jim serves as the Western Region Manager.  He oversees a team of Ministry representatives whose goal is to recruit, train and encourage local volunteer teams to reach marriages where they live.  He works to give ministry away by connecting people with tools to help their marriages and to help them help others.

Cheryl, after home educating our three boys, now works at FamilyLife as a New Staff Evaluator.  Her goal is to help couples through the process of determining if FamilyLife is the best fit for their ministry skills.
