Karen and I have been working with The Military Ministry of Cru and the Chaplains at Naval Station Great Lakes since the Ministry opened in the Fall of 2002. NS Great Lakes is the Navy's only Enlisted Boot Camp and is located just north of Chicago. Here is where 40-45,000 young men and women are brought into the Navy every year and where 9-10,000 of those new Sailors learn their first Navy 'rate' (or trade) in the Navy in "A-School" before they go to the Fleet.  In 2020, with Covid limiting base access, the ministry continues with Bible Studies on-line.  We will continue this Virtual Ministry until the base opens for Volunteers. 

Since the work opened with the Sunday "Sailors for Christ" classes for Recruits, we have seen the work grow with the addition of the Ministry to Sailors in A-School, Bible Studies with Senior Officers and Staff, Evangelism, Discipleship and Marriage Classes for Navy Staff and Families and helping those who are returning with the invisible wounds of War and Moral Injury.

We are seeing these Sailors  influence others for Christ while in school here and we know they are sharing the Gospel as they go to the fleet and "to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8).
