Sarah grew up in Fishkill, NY in a Christian family attending a local church, Fishkill Baptist Church. Sarah does not remember a time that she did not hear about who God is and his love for her. During VBS in the summer of 1988, Sarah was 4 years old and was taught about Jesus and how we can ask him into our lives. One night that week, she sat with her mom on their front porch and asked if she could pray to ask Jesus into her life. From that time on, Sarah’s faith journey was a gradual process of the Lord growing her understanding of God, the Bible, Christian community, and also how to share her faith with others. After two years of studying Architecture at Dutchess Community College, Sarah transferred to Wentworth Institute in Boston, MA. Through her time there she got connected to Cru and began to take ownership of the faith that she was brought up in. Having no plans to work in full-time ministry upon graduation, the Lord began to challenge Sarah’s expectation for after college. The Lord gave her an idea of working in college ministry in a city where she so clearly saw the need for the gospel to go out to young people. Sarah interned with Cru in 2008 for two years and then made the decision to follow God’s call for her life to minister on college campuses on a long term basis.

Nate grew up in Defiance, OH and heard the gospel from his Dad while on a camping trip when he was 13 years old. Nate always desired to be part of a Christ-centered community among his peers, but was never quite able to find a group of friends who were pursuing their faith and God. After high school graduation in 2001, Nate decided to join the Ohio Air National Guard and began his journey in the military as well as college. Finishing up his college career at Bowling Green State University in Ohio, he got connected to Cru and for the first time began to see a faith-filled community of his peers striving to grow in their relationships with Jesus. Upon graduation, Nate decided to join Cru as a part-time staff member and in 2015 he and Sarah met at a National Cru Staff conference that was held in Colorado. Nate enjoys working with our National Conferences and Operations Team, and looks forward to how the Lord will continue to use his life experiences and heart for God to pour into the lives and faith of young college students.
