My name is Leah Reizner and I live near Berlin, Germany with my family. In my journey with the Lord Jesus as a young girl, I always felt called into full-time Christian work overseas and since I graduated college from Moody Bible Institute in 2008 with a degree in International Ministry, I have been in Germany working with Athletes in Action and more recently with PRO 11. East Germany is a place where 72% of people under the age of 47 are atheists. My heart has been burdened with this truth and it is my desire to see the Lord bring many Germans and athletes to a knowledge and trust in him.
In 2018, AIA Germany was discontinued as a ministry, along with several other ministries. Campus für Christus (the German version of CRU) went through a leadership change and a rebranding phase. Athletes in Action has not been re-instated, BUT a new soccer/sports ministry called PRO 11 was founded in January 2021 in Nürnberg, Germany. After my maternity leave with our second born, I have started working with the PRO 11 team. The unique part of my job is I use the avenue of sports to build relationships to further the Kingdom of Christ. We do soccer schools, tournaments and events, school projects, social projects, international projects, and training and coaching. I am supporting our PRO 11 team through administrative work and pioneering in and around Berlin to bring the ministry here as well as continuing to mentor professional female athletes.
One of my favorite things is leading an online Bible study for female pro-athletes playing in Europe. Going to church and being involved in a church fellowship is nearly impossible with the training, traveling and game schedules most pro-athletes have. It is my desire to support and disciple these women to grow in their faith and reach out to their teammates with the good news.
