Since 2009, I have been serving with Cru on the Central Coast of California and absolutely love it here! Our ministry includes reaching Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cuesta College, Cuesta North Campus, Allan Hancock College, and San Luis Obispo High School. I serve with students and professors, helping to lead Bible Studies and disciple students. I focus in operations, giving leadership to event planning, mission trip planning, finance, legal, and leadership selection. I am currently working on a Masters in Church History from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, which is helping to give me a broader perspective on how the Church has interacted with society for the last several millennia. It is my hope that this strengthens my understanding of critical conversations in our society, conversations which college students frequently state as hindering them from accepting Jesus.
I started college at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2005 as a Physics major. My original plan was to graduate college and go off to graduate school for a doctorate in plasma physics. This would allow me to do research in nuclear fusion as an energy source. Although I had everything planned out in my mind, God had a very different plan. Over the four years that I spent at Cal Poly, God began to gradually change my heart into seeing the needs that others have in theirs. Through mission trips, leading a Bible study, and mentoring other students, God began to show me what my true purpose and calling was.
In showing me that I was created for the very purpose of ministering to others, God has very directly and purposefully displayed to me not only His plan, but also His love. And now, more than anything, I want to see His work accomplished, which I truly believe is the fulfillment of the Great Commission in my generation. Let's get this done together!
