Randel and Megan Veccia

#0620325

The ministry of Cru has had a profound impact on Randy as he attended Slippery Rock University, and has changed the trajectory of his life forever. Randy joined staff with Cru because he saw the urgency, value, and strategy of allowing the gospel to transform college students’ lives. Randy has now been apart of the Cru ministry in North Western PA for 22 years, 15 of those serving as a staff member. Since January 2016, Randy and Megan have been doing college ministry in different capacities, but as of July 2020 Randy and Megan are now on Cru staff together as full-time missionaries in the NWPA area.

In July of 2015, after serving 4 years in the missions’ field at Black Forrest Academy in Germany, Megan returned to the states to get married to Randy. Directly after the wedding, Megan started working at Grove City College (GCC), where she served as a Preschool teacher for 6 months, and then continued to serve in the Residence Life department at GCC for 4.5 years. Megan is extremely excited to continue to work with college students in the NWPA area alongside of Randy, their 6 year old daughter, Lillian, and 2 year old son, John.

As our staff gathers to plan for each semester we are praying that the 56,000 college students on 15+ campuses in North Western PA will be reached with the gospel.  There is an all-too-familiar saying at the beginning of the school year, which is: “Welcome to the Impossible.” We believe that God has entrusted us do ministry here and it is through Him that the impossible can be made possible. We, in turn, cast vision to students to “Help turn lost students and faculty into life-long, Christ-centered laborers.”

It is our desire to see students:

  • Go where God would ask them to Go
  • Do what God would ask them to Do
  • Say what God would ask them to Say
  • Give what God would ask them to Give

After returning home from a deployment in 2005 with U.S. Army to Bayji, Iraq, it was clear to Randy that he was in desperate need to be in a community of believers. He first found Cru at Slippery Rock University and was hesitant to get too involved. The following summer God led Randy on a Cru Summer Mission to Ocean City, MD where God began to transform his heart to reach the lost. Randy began to lead our student movement at SRU and was amazed by how the Lord was at work there, and he began to desire to see that on other college campuses, leading him to join Cru Staff in 2009.

Right after attending Messiah College in Grantham, PA, Megan felt the Lord tugging on her heart to go into missions. Through a variety of events, Megan felt God calling her to go overseas to Black Forest Academy (BFA) as a full-time missionary, where she spent the next 4 years in various roles:  Middle School Mathematics Teacher, Resident Assistant in a High School female dormitory, and Assistant Chaplain at BFA High School. It was at BFA where Megan's heart broke for those students that did not know the Lord, or were confused about their relationship with Him. After meeting Randy in 2014, and agreeing to marry him in 2015, Megan and Randy began to pray that God would use them, together, to minister to college students.

As a ministry, we continue to grow where we are and go where we’re not. In order to reach these students and faculty that God has entrusted to us, we are continuing to invest in those areas that will help us win, build and send more and more people as we seek to bring God glory and help fulfill the great commission.

I am convinced that because of your partnership with Cru through prayers, financial giving, and time that you are helping change the way eternity is going to look.

Thank you,

Randel & Megan Veccia
