Heidi (Shaffer) Smith grew up with parents on staff with Athletes in Action, one of the ministries of Cru. When she got to college, she was active in the Cru campus ministry at The University of Maryland, and learned how to share her faith locally and internationally. Upon graduation, she interned with The JESUS Film Project for two years as an audio technician, getting to produce the film in several languages for people all over the globe to hear the gospel in their language! In 2012 she joined full time staff with Cru back at The University of Maryland, College Park, and married Geoff, whom she'd met at Cru in college. Geoff has volunteered with Cru alongside Heidi ever since, and the two just had their first child, Isaac, in September 2020.
