This Easter, Reach People with the Hope of Jesus

Brian and I have been ministering to grad students at Penn State University since 2020. We seek to reach these students with the Gospel using a threefold approach (this taken from cru.org): Invite: We believe that Jesus is incomprehensibly magnificent, and we invite grad students to know Him. We want to give every grad student the opportunity to explore the impact of the gospel in their friends’ lives and the hope of the gospel for their own life. Invest: We want grad students to thrive in grad school, not just survive. So, we invest in their lives to help them encounter the gospel deeply transforming and shaping their life, relationships, and the calling God has given them as grad students.Mobilize: Whether they are going across the world to another nation or across the country to another university or across the hall to another grad student’s office or the classroom, we equip and mobilize grad students to take the hope of Christ with them and into the lives of those they meet. We believe that grad students are a strategic group to reach because of how their position as grad students makes them leaders both on the campus, as well as in their future respective fields such as professors, researchers, or professionals. They hold a lot of influence in shaping our culture. Brian and I believe we cater well to these students especially through our gift of hospitality. We love opening up our home to these students to share meals with them and spend time with them. This has resulted in great connections with them that we hope to enrich their time in grad school. Grad students can often feel isolated and lonely and this has been a great opportunity to reach out to them. This bears implications for reaching the world for the Gospel as well, as we have welcomed many international grad students into our home and have had opportunities to share Jesus with them.
