Sam: unlikely missionary

Sam didn’t even know Jesus when he signed up to be a spring break missionary with Cru’s Big Break in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2013.

He had no idea what was in store.

With plans to hit the beach and maybe attend a few sessions — to fulfill his “obligation” to Cru — Sam’s plans were divinely interrupted … the first day there, the Gospel got a hold of Sam’s life. He prayed to receive Christ as Savior.

“God used Big Break to change my life,” Sam told us. “I realized that God’s plan for my life was way better than I could ever imagine. How could I refuse?!”

Sam returned to campus and began to share his faith on a regular basis, and over this past year has become a leader in his Cru ministry. He returned to Big Break last year (2014) and saw two students from his campus accept Christ!

This year, thousands of students like Sam will take the beaches and boardwalks by storm during Big Break — our spring break outreaches in Panama City Beach, Florida, and Long Beach, California, two of the most popular spring break destinations.
