Imagine, your heart is racing, tears are filling your eyes, a big smile on your face, confetti and balloons falling from the air, and the world’s best band playing! This is only a small bit of how I felt when I received the call that I had been accepted to be Full-Time Campus Staff with Cru.
Cru (formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ) is a global missions organization. I had been heavily involved in Cru while I was a student at Missouri Western State University and Cru had a great impact on my relationship with Christ. It was through Cru that I learned what it meant to have a quiet time with God as well as what initiate evangelism is.
It was during the fall semester of my Senior year while I was trying to study for a final that God began to call me. I kept hearing God tell me to lay down my life. I answered with a simple “God I have laid down my life, I accepted Christ when I was about five years old.” I went back to studying. Again God said “lay down your life.” This time when I responded I said “God look I have laid down my life, now I’m trying to study for this final, let me study.” I guess He didn’t like that response because He got even louder “Schardae lay down your life.” I closed my text book turned on my iTunes and opened my Bible. Whenever I have a quiet time I like to listen to music. Of all the songs that could come on was a song by my favorite Christian rapper Lecrae. The song is called Send Me. Part of the chorus says “send me I’ll go, let me go, let me go!” I opened up my Bible to Matthew 10:39 which reads “whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.”
I realized at that moment that I had never asked God what He wanted me to do with my life. I had my life planned out well, from a job to how big of a family I wanted. However, God obviously had bigger and better plans. It was that day that I finally understood what it meant to lose my life for Christ. I needed to totally surrender the life I had planned for myself and allow God to direct me. As a result He showed me He wanted me to be on staff with Cru.
I have the opportunity to serve on the KC-Metro staff team for Cru. I will be working the Univeristy of Kansas City Missouri. I will have the privilege of discipling young ladies, sharing the Gospel with students and training them to lead a ministry along with much more. In order to do this I must allow Christ to work through me as I build a team of financial/prayer partners. Would you consider joining my team by giving $100 a month or some other amount? If you are unable to make a monthly commitment a one-time gift is also an option.
Thank you so much for your consideration and prayer. Luke 6:38
