Hi, I’m Darla Madrid (formerly Sudderth)! I am from Waco, TX., got my bachelors degree from Texas State University in San Marcos, TX., and now I am a missionary with Cru's high school ministry and this is why…

Throughout my life and while studying Social Work I learned that youth are facing many issues. Many having to do with identity: am I enough, am I worth anything, will I just end up following my parents paths, etc. My senior year in college I got to help launch Cru’s high school ministry in San Marcos and realized there’s another big, underlining, issue here. Most youth these days have no idea who Jesus is or what He has done and is doing for them. How can they know their own identity when they do not even KNOW the one who gave them their identity?

We’ve seen a cultural trend that has led to many students having never even stepped into a church, let alone had someone explain the gospel to them. Even if they are involved in a ministry somewhere it’s rare that they are being challenged to make their faith their own, being discipled, or being equipped to share their faith. So, what has happened? A whole nation that does not KNOW Jesus is slipping right under our noses. Right here in America.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations (people groups), baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 

Matthew 28:19-20

I currently serve as the people care coordinator for the high school ministry. My mission is to participate in and equip leaders to reach teenagers for Christ, help them grow in their faith, and send them out to be a witness for Christ. My vision is to see these young people build a foundation on God's truth and hope, understand His love for them and others, and ultimately live out their new identity in Christ! As the people care coordinator I get to do this for our missionaries too! Helping them remain in a healthy place so they can continue to do what God has called them to! 

My mission field is my home town- Waco, Texas! My population is the community of Waco and all of the HS missionaries in the US. Will you partner with me?
