Building capacity for God's work in the whole world
After a year of serving on campus, I served as a conference and event planner in Cru's operations office for North Africa and the Middle East. Through this, God really grew my heart for the spiritual needs of the world and opened my eyes to the valuable role of Operations in our efforts to fill this need. Operations build important infrastructure that equips and cares for field staff so that they have increased capacity to bring the gospel to people. Imagine how much less we’d be able to do without people managing finances, developing trainings, planning times of refreshment, navigating laws of different countries, and so on.
Now God has me in two teams. The first is the Global Operations Leader Development (GOLD) team which runs an annual program to develop operations leaders, who are so crucial to the functioning of our ministry. My second role is Wellness and Culture Leader for the Global Finance team. Why these roles? Because well trained and well cared for operations staff are better able to increase our ministry’s capacity for growth. And how much more fish could Peter have caught (Luke 5) if he simply had had more capacity (bigger nets and boats)?
God has given me a love for working logistics and for caring for people. He’s also given me opportunities to steward all that in a way that helps bring his kingdom to the whole world! Whether in an office or on campus the goal is the same: giving everyone a chance to know Jesus and helping them grow in their relationship with him so that they can go out and spread the good news.
