- My name is Lucymar L. García Famanía, and I studied at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, the largest university in Puerto Rico. For years I have participated in cross country and the 3,000 meter steeplechase, representing my institution and my island. As a student-athlete I lived for a long time without hope and peace. I was constantly tempted to live in the ways of the world when things were going well or bad in sports. But in the face of these forces that were trying to sink me, God drew me into a relationship with Him. God began to work in my life using various Christian ministries. I made the decision to give my whole life to Christ, accepting him in my heart as my Lord and Savior at a camp called Extreme Challenge Puerto Rico with the ministry of Athletes in Action.
- From that moment, I have experienced a great transformation in my life and now I live to serve and worship Him in everything. Loving God has become the top priority in my life, and because of that, I am passionate about connecting athletes with Jesus Christ. God has given me the opportunity to make this connection through the ministry of Athletes in Action.
- In my last year of college, God called me to work in this ministry as a missionary. Here, I will have the privilege to disciple other athletes and guide them to know Jesus personally. My biggest desire is to see athletes of all kinds find hope in Jesus only and also see their lives transformed by the powerful gospel. Your partnership is very significant to me and important to help me accomplish what God has called me to do and so that together we can work to one day see the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
