Our journey to FamilyLife began with a big fight on the way to Grandma's house in August of 2017. That night, Steve googled "Christian Marriage Conferences" and he signed us up to attend our first Weekend to Remember conference in Monterey, California that November. We had no idea how that conference would change our lives.
Steve was a business owner and I was a first grade teacher. We had been married for 21 years. We were busy with work, busy with our 3 kids and their activities, and through the Weekend to Remember speakers we realized that we were starting to drift toward isolation from one another simply because of the busyness of life. When we left that conference, we knew we had to encourage as many couples as we could to experience a Weekend to Remember. Little did we know that in the next year God would be calling us to join FamilyLife staff as well.
We came home and began leading a marriage group at our church and started sponsoring couples so they could attend a Weekend to Remember. That year we were able to send 58 couples to a Weekend to Remember. We were amazed at the stories of what God was doing in the marriages of those who came back after they attended the conference. In June of 2018, we were invited to visit FamilyLife headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas. During that trip, it was evident that God was calling us from our comfortable life in Ripon, California to join staff with FamilyLife. We struggled with the idea of leaving family, friends, and everything we had known behind and moving our 3 children across the country. But God was faithful and made it clear that this was the new path our family was to take. We began raising support as missionary staff with FamilyLife, and in July of 2019 our family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas.
