My name is David Wacker and my wife Maddy and I met through Athletes in Action as interns at the Ultimate Training Camp (UTC) in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2017. She was a beach volleyball player at Tulane at the time, and I was a basketball player at Boise State University. We immediately hit it off, began dating long-distance, and quickly realized that our relationship was headed toward marriage. We got married in May of 2019, and spent our first year of marriage living in Maddy's hometown of Phoenix before following God's lead to Fort Collins in August of 2020. For four years, I served with Athletes in Action full-time at Colorado State University and the University of Northern Colorado, spending two years being trained and two years as the local team leader of the AIA team. Our time in Fort Collins was some of the best years of our lives, and we loved being a part of God changing the lives of athletes and coaches through our ministry. 

In September of 2024, we followed the Lord's lead once again and moved back to Phoenix, Arizona and plant long-term roots. I have the privilege of serving the players, coaches, and support staff of the Grand Canyon University men's basketball program as my primary role. I am so excited to continue to play my part in what God is doing at GCU, and to expand our ministry to Arizona State and Northern Arizona going forward. Maddy and I are extremely thankful for our team of ministry partners who commit to pray and give financially to be a part of what God is doing through our ministry.
