The Desperate Need for the Gospel
Imagine a world today where you did not have the ability to hear the Gospel. Even if you wanted to know who God is and what He has done for you, imagine there were no resources for you to know Him. Maybe your language did not exist in written form, or your language was one of over 6,000 languages that do not have the complete written Bible. Or maybe you belong to a group around the world that is still illiterate.
Imagine what it would be like growing up in a place where there were no Christians or churches and the Bible was only available in a language you couldn’t read... to live and die without ever hearing the name of Jesus and His love for you.
Today, there are 3.4 Billion people worldwide belonging to a people group considered unreached by the Gospel. This means that 42% of people in the world have not heard the Gospel. They don’t have access to the Gospel, no translations of the Bible in their language, no churches, or no believers nearby engaging them with the Gospel.
Out of the 7,000 languages spoken worldwide, only about 700 of them have the complete Bible in their language. About 4,500 languages have some portions of scripture written in their language but many people are still illiterate. Lastly, there are about 1,800 languages in the world which have zero portions of scripture written. About half of these 1,800 languages do not exist in written form and only exist as an oral language. This makes sharing the Gospel a great challenge for the Church today as we strive to fulfill the Great Commission...
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” - Matthew 28:18-20
Jesus Film Project
In the late 70’s, the Jesus Film Project produced a film sharing the life and Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our film is based on the Gospel of Luke and about 80% of our script is taken directly from scripture. Through the film, people now have the opportunity to hear the gospel, in their own heart language, for the very first time. They can see and hear Jesus inviting them to follow him!
We have now translated this film into over 2,000 different languages but the work is far from being complete. The goal of the Jesus Film Project is to give everyone on earth an opportunity to encounter Jesus in his or her own heart language.
My Role
After the Jesus Film is recorded overseas into a new language, the audio is brought back to our headquarters in Orlando, FL.
As an audio mixing engineer, I will be working at our studios on the post production portion of our Audio/Video team. Our team prepares the final audio dubbing, editing and mixing the newly recorded language into our film before it is released to the very people who need to hear that God loves them. Some of my work will involve cleaning up the audio, lip syncing, equalizing frequencies, adjusting volume levels, as well as adding in sound effects and music, among other work, all with the goal of sharing the message of the gospel with utmost clarity and excellence.
Your Partnership
It is an honor to invite you to join our mission of fulfilling the Great Commission. We cannot do this without the generosity of the Body of Christ.
Would you consider participating with what the Lord is doing through our ministry and partnering with me to continue reaching people with the Gospel in their own heart language?
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands...” - Revelation 7:9
