Many athletes in today’s society consume their thoughts and identity around their status of being an athlete. All of this can leave someone empty and searching for real hope and purpose in their lives. As a recent college basketball player myself, I have personally seen and experienced the emptiness from putting my identity and hope in something that will not last forever. It is my prayer that through Athletes in Action, athletes will put their identity in the One who gave them the gifts and abilities to play their sport and that they will find meaning and purpose through Him.
I believe the Lord has called me to serve as full time staff with the basketball department of Athletes in Action where I will continue working at their headquarters in Xenia, Ohio. As a former college basketball player at LaGrange College, I am very excited to get to use the talents and the passion for the game that the Lord has given me to be able to reach basketball athletes, like myself, for His kingdom. My job will encompass a wide variety of areas such as directing our basketball camps, helping plan events for coaches and athletes throughout the year, hosting international groups, and various other tasks. Ultimately, I pray I will be able to minister to and encourage other basketball athletes to further the gospel and make disciples. It is my hope that there will one day be a Christ follower on every team, in every sport, and every nation.
Like most mission organizations, Athletes in Action staff rely on the support of individuals and organizations to fund their salary and other ministry related expenses. I must develop a team of ministry partners who are committed to supporting my ministry through prayer and/or financially so I can share the love of Jesus through the game of basketball. Your partnership can make a big difference as we strive to reach "EVERY" and I would love to have you partner with me on this journey!
