Hi! We are Sara and Kornel Mackovic, who live in Croatia, capital city Zagreb. We have two sons, Izak (2020) and Levi (2025). Our journey of answering on God's call to join in full time ministry started back in a years when we got acquainted with the work of Family Life through premarital counseling. So we ourselves experienced the values and many blessings of that ministry, and we joined Family Life Croatia team in 2020 - right when Covid hit us all, and Kornel decided to quit his job and sign for seminary and Sara was on maternity leave. Unsure times... But God provided and still does the same!
That's why for the first 3 years in ministry we were helping and giving practical advice to other young couples so we could all see healthier marriages and families in Croatia driven by God's truth and grace and His plan for us. 

Now we are also developing some new ways to reachout to the unsaved and give support and disciple new believers.
Sara has a degree in social pedagogy and focuses on working with women and sharing the experience of motherhood. Also, Sara is trying to connect with women and give them hope through workshops, seminars, and many other similar activities in which she openly speaks about motherhood and personal struggles. The book "Moms for moms" recently published (Sara is one of the co-authors) is also a material that is really helpful for outreach and starting groups and conversation with moms. Kornel has a degree from Evangelical Theological Seminary in Osijek, Croatia. He is fond of sports and music and leads worship in church services and small groups. With two other colleagues, Kornel just started sport ministry (2024) - AiA Croatia! Croatia is a country where everything is about sports, and it's really good at sports! So, the goal is to give opportunities to people who work and are looking for a group for fun and recreation - to offer opportunities for sports! This is such a common case to meet - everyone wants to come at least once a week and play some sport, which others organize and prepare - but there is something even better on offer - Jesus!
Also in the layers of faith development, we also have groups for Bible studies, discipleship and mentoring (one on one), so that evangelism and discipleship always go together.

About Croatia, we can say that it is a country of unusual natural beauty, but in a deep spiritual darkness with only a small number of Bible-believing Christians. Although close to 80% of the population declares to be of Catholic religion, their connection with the church is, in most cases, nominal and strongly tied to tradition and nationality. This makes it difficiult to communicate the evangelical message of salvation through Christ only, and by accepting His free gift by faith. However, God is opening for us new avenues for reaching out through teaching of God's purpose and His plan. This is the main focus of our ministry and our hearts’ desire is to give an opportunity to many people and families in Croatia to hear about and respond to the saving message of the Gospel.

In addition to the CRU ministry, we are actively involved in the life of our local church – First Baptist Church in Zagreb (leadership, music, work with young people and with couples, discipleship), where we invite people reached through our CRU ministry and give them the opportunity to grow in their faith and be discipled.
