“At what point are we content with the number of people in our community who do not know Christ?”–Chris Vogel.

The church is facing a pivotal moment, and we all feel it. From churches closing rapidly, to a rising generation of “nones,” from rising spiritual interest among young people, to growing interest in theology and church history, we are at a pivotal moment

There is desperate need, of course, but there is also tremendous opportunity.

We need a church that is ready to creatively tackle the desperate needs facing us, and a church that is ready to effectively equip the next generation with the tools it needs to “proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn.” (Ps. 22:31)

The simple fact is: we need more and better equipped churches. We need a movement, empowered by the Spirit of God and sustained by the Gospel of grace. And it starts here in Wichita.
  • More: By current estimates, by 2070 there will only be a church per 1,800 people. Statistics say that church planting in the USA is nearing an all-time low. For every 4,000 churches we plant, 3,700 close. In the PCA, we grow by 2 churches per year. With a growing population, and many leaving the faith, this simply will not cut it. Church planting is how we meet this need. Simply put, church plants are more effective at reaching the lost, yet many are not investing in church planting. 42% of church members at successful church plants were previously unchurched. What would happen if we started intentionally seeking to plant more churches in our city?
  • Better Equipped: We need churches that are equipped to multiply. We need church members actively in discipleship, focused on making disciples of Jesus, who make other disciples of Jesus. What if we had a church filled with members who could reach their lost friends? Who could lead others to become disciple-makers? If we want to face this pivotal moment head on, it starts with this: equipping church members to “preach the word; be ready in season and out of season” (2 Tim. 4:2).
As a Church Partner Catalyst, I will be working with Cru to help equip churches in reaching the lost, and mobilizing the found.
As a Church Planting Resident, I will be working with Heartland Community Church to plant a church in the greater Wichita Area.
Will you partner with me in God’s mission to Wichita?
