Kostiantyn Shevchenko

#1126621

Greetings to you from Ukraine!

My name is Kostia, I am a missionary at student`s ministry in "Ukraine for Christ" (CRU in Ukraine). I grew up in an atheistic family. In 2017, when I was in my fourth year of university I met Campus, and through relationships with Christians, God touched me and I decided to follow Christ.

Lana is my wife, we met each other in Campus and after 3 years in 2020 we got married. Both of us came to the Lord through campus ministry in our colleges. During our student years, Lana and I were volunteers at Campus Ukraine for a long time and were dedicated to building spiritual movements in our universities.

After a while, I realized that serving students is my passion, I want to invest in the lives of young people and devote much more time to them. I made a firm decision that I want to become a missionary at Campus Ukraine. Lana now working with another mission in Ukraine which works with victims of war and military men and women.

War in Ukraine

With the onset of the full-scale war against Russia, I was mobilized for military service. I have been serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The initial six months were spent on the frontlines, facing the harsh realities of combat. However, by God's grace (a lot of people have been praying about it), I was given the opportunity to continue my service in a non-combat role in my hometown, Odesa, close to my wife and family. This period at the military headquarters in Odesa has been a time of profound growth and reflection. But in spite of the war, I had the opportunity to serve and help the military.

Most recently, I have been blessed with the opportunity to quit from military service, allowing me to fully return to my missionary work with CRU.

What is now

I am returning to the service of students. During the war, I see the features of the influence of the younger generation. Students, young people are not just the future of Ukraine, but precisely the layer that will definitely change the movement of our country. It is a great privilege to be a part of changing the worldview of students. I am inspired by how young people are open to spiritual conversations and to Christ.

Our universities are open, it's just that if there is a period of shelling, then everyone goes to shelter, or switches to online education for a while. There are now many students in Odesa and in Ukraine as a whole.

You have an opportunity to be a part of this ministry

I invite you to be part of a ministry that God is using to produce fruit and change lives. Together, we can do great and impossible things for Christ and His Kingdom.
