MCAS Miramar is more than an air station — it is one of the most strategic mission fields in the United States military.

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar spans more than 23,000 acres in San Diego and serves as the largest Marine Corps aviation installation in the world. The base supports approximately:

• 15,000+ active-duty Marines and sailors
• 24,000+ total personnel including civilians and contractors
• More than 3,000 military families in the surrounding community
• Dozens of aviation squadrons and tenant commands
• Continuous global deployment and combat-readiness operations across the Pacific and beyond

Most enlisted Marines serving at Miramar are between 18–25 years old — a season of life when identity, purpose, relationships, and worldview are being deeply shaped.

Yet many are carrying unseen burdens.

Recent military studies have shown alarming trends across the force:

• Nearly 1 in 4 active-duty service members report symptoms connected to anxiety or depression
• Suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among active-duty military personnel
• Studies have found that significant numbers of service members report suicidal thoughts during or after periods of operational stress
• Military marriages experience unique strain from deployments, long work hours, and repeated separations, contributing to elevated relational stress and family instability
