Declarador, Paulline

#1130438

CURRENT MINISTRY

I have been a Full-time Missionary of Cru in the Philippines, for six years now. I am currently assigned to Student-Led Movements in Central Visayas. I am ministering to students by sharing the gospel with them, discipling them to maturity in Christ, and developing them as godly leaders. I am equipping future and emerging leaders to make a significant impact in our society for the glory of God.

HOW DID SHE BECOME A MISSIONARY

I came to know Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when a former staff member of Cru (CCC) shared the Gospel in our classroom at Central Philippine University during my freshman year back in 2012. Through that encounter, I finally understood that my salvation is only through faith in Jesus Christ and that I cannot earn it through my good works. Ephesians 2:8–9 became deeply meaningful to me at that time:

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."

I then joined a Bible study which helped me grow in my relationship with God and gave me assurance of the salvation I have in Christ. Eventually, I became involved with Cru on my campus. I started reading my Bible every day, and as I grew closer to God, He placed a desire in my heart to share the love I was experiencing in Him with others.

So, I began sharing the Gospel with my friends, classmates, and eventually other students on campus, helping them grow in their relationship with God. Sharing Jesus and helping others grow in Christ brought so much joy to my heart—and it was an even greater joy to see them, in turn, share their faith and help others grow in God as well.

Discovering God's Calling

In my sophomore year, after attending my first student congress with Cru in Cebu, I started seeking God for His specific direction for my life. God first spoke to me through Jeremiah 1:5:

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

At the time, I didn’t pay much attention to what God had said, and I continued my journey, seeking Him for further affirmation. As I served Him on campus, the passion in my heart kept growing, but I was afraid to tell anyone about this desire because I worried it might just be my own wish rather than God’s plan for me. So, whenever anyone asked about my future plans, I remained quiet.

In 2016, during my fourth year of college, we had a summer immersion at a textile company in Cavite. That experience gave me a glimpse of what a Chemical Engineer's life would look like in a plant. For the first two weeks, I enjoyed what I was doing because it was new. However, as time went on, I could no longer find joy in the work. I realized that if God were truly leading me into the workplace, He would surely give me joy in what I was doing.

Before graduating in 2017, I sought God’s affirmation regarding my decision through prayer and fasting. During the first two days of my fast, I didn't hear anything from Him. But on the third day, during my morning quiet time, God gently reminded me of who I am and led me back to my identity. Then, two questions confronted me:

  • "Why did I name you Paulline?"

  • "Why is your last name Declarador?"

These questions made me realize God’s intentional plan for me. It wasn't an accident that I was named Paulline, nor was it a coincidence that my last name is Declarador. Reflecting on how God first called me through Jeremiah, His plan was reaffirmed: even before I was formed, God had a perfect plan for me to declare Him to the nations.

A few days after my fast, a student friend messaged me. In the course of our conversation, I mentioned to her that my last name was almost "GO" (my father's last name). She replied, "You were really made to GO and DECLARE God's Word!" That hit me deeply once again. Everything became clear. God’s timing was perfect in revealing His plans to me.

Stepping Into Full-Time Ministry

After graduation, I worked as an intern missionary for 2 years, and after that, I applied for full-time ministry and, by the grace of God, was accepted. By His grace, I have now been serving the Lord full-time for seven years!
