Hi! I’m Madecyn Penn - a missionary on college campuses in Long Beach, CA.
The founder of Cru once said that if we reach the campus today, we reach the world tomorrow. I believe that is true and that God has a strategic vision to reach this generation of college students!
The college campus is a hub where students gather from all walks of life and from every nation of the world. Whether they know it or not, their years at school will be some of the most formative years of their lives. However, there is a lot that competes for their hearts and minds. Whether its academics, parties, or various religious groups, students have unlimited options of things to devote themselves to.
During this formative time, Cru studies have found that over 80% of people are willing to talk about Jesus, but many of them will not have a conversation with someone who truly follows Jesus. Can you imagine how different our world would be if these students had the opportunity to hear about the life-changing news of Jesus? Imagine the next generation of doctors, teachers, artists, lawyers transformed by the Gospel - a generation who not only reshapes our culture but carries the Gospel to all tribes, tongues and nations. This is what Cru is all about.
I really met Jesus in my college years as a student at California State University, Long Beach and my life has been forever changed! I am passionate about reaching this generation of college students by introducing them to Jesus at the same place that I did - right on their campus.
My ability to work full time on campus would not be possible without your prayer and financial partnership.
