No young girl dreams of being twice-divorced or becoming a stepmom. It was never my plan either. Growing up in a Christian home, long-term marriages and family were well demonstrated for me. But at 33 years old, I found myself going through my second divorce, being shamed out of church, and all of the worldly identities that gave me value were stripped away.

Oh, but God!!! That was not the end of my story - it was really just the beginning. What started as purposeful singleness turned into a 4-year journey of rediscovering who God says I am and truly finding my identity for the first time in my life. Then God brought me Rich, a divorced dad of four girls. After 18 months of dating, we were married in April of 2014. That summer brought new challenges as we discovered just how hard the blended family journey would be.

A co-worker had gifted me their own well-utilized copy of The Smart Stepfamily. We joined a blended family group at our church. Then we found Weekend to Remember. After that, we learned The Smart Stepfamily was available in a video-based small group series. Piece by piece, God revealed His grace, brought us the marriage-saving resources and people of FamilyLife Blended and reminded us that He has great plans for us! We are now thriving, leading groups and studies, and passionate about loving and encouraging blended marriages. 

I am excited to join as Affiliate Staff and would be honored if you choose to prayerfully or financially help us reach blended families to give them hope, community, encouragement and support as they journey toward becoming a Smart Stepfamily.
